again made a mistake....should have pre-arranged transportation to the hotel....went straight to airasia counter to upgrade luggage 15kg for return trip..then took taxi to hotel...600 bhat...the taxi driver went straight to a tourist information office claiming that the packages offered at the hotel is expensive...since they were very convincing we purchased jungle trekking & phi phi island one day trip...paid 4400 plus 132(cc 3% charge) and left to hotel....upon arriving to Sunda Resort...as entering the premise one would feel its quite a bad place....but its not...i would gv a 2.5 star for this place ... checked in and immediately asked the hotel staff for 1day tour packages price...to my surprise its the same with the information office...lesson learned - next time dont buy immediately... got into room & took a short nap,,,,,woke up & found air cond water was dripping ....went out to Anong beach area....the resort is giving free ride to Anong & naporathara....while looking for a nice place to eat ...it started to rain ...called for a mini motorcycle tut tut to go to nearest place to eat phad thai ...paid 60 Bhat n he dropped us at a phad thai shop further up from aanong beach ....finally able to taste phad Thai after so long ... the last i tasted was went we were in Phuket ...rain did not seemed to stop...so took mini motor tutu tut again to go aanong beach area....went to a few shops & it started to rain heavily again....all of sudden the whole electricity just went off...pitch dark everywhere ....after around 10 minutes it came back again ...since its raining, called the resort to pick us up to go back to hotel....reported abt the aircond water to reception n they sent a technician whom rectified the fault....and that was it ... day 1 finished...

Day 2

Got up early morning & went for breakfast ...ate like a king :P then got ready for the day tour...jungle trekking...the driver came around 8.30am to pick us up...Kabun was his name...we drove to Hot Spring waterfall...took a short bath ...Kabun advised not to be in more than 20 minutes...according to him the place that we went contains more mineral compared to other places....then from there we left to Emerald pool ...had to walk 800 up hill to reach this pool....the place looks good with clear water greenish in color...Kabun mentioned the water will be clear since its not crowded...then we served with lunch at the exit...after went around the shops to check out things....it wasnt that nice...but saw some were selling pistols..its heavy like real guns ...& cheap but not sure if it will be allowed to bring through airport :( so sad....

Then we left for elephant walk ...it was a good experience but disappointed ..because its was just around the area next to the elephant camp and not a proper jungle trekking ....after spending an hour we left to tiger cave temple....its a cave with many Buddha's statues...& a tiger shrine...the energy flow was quite powerful....there was also a kuan shi yin temple nearby ...went around the temple ...there were even Thailand's Lord Ganesha statue...There were lots of monkeys around too...nearby they are building a big Pagoda to keep the Buddha Relic collected from all the countries around the world...and that was the tour...kinda tiring ...on the way back saw a local market(pasar malam) was open ...so ask the hotel to drop us there...since its very near to our hotel..while waiting for the tut tut...played sepak takraw for a while ...then left to local market ...nothing much interesting over there so we left early ...came back to hotel again & played sepak takraw again ...for another 30 minutes...then back to room & got ready n left to Aanong & shop around ...went for dinner & ordered phat thai & tom yam ...both were equally BAD!!!!! after dinner left back to hotel...

Day 3

rented a motorbike from the hotel & we started our journey for the day....went for a massage - it was happy hour with 50% promotion between 12-2pm...took thai massage & medicure & pedicure... rain started pouring again...went to next door hotel restaurant to take lunch...left after rain stopped ...we went around walking to check out the shops....bought some stuff n left to hotel ....joined the hotel staff to play sepak takraw...then left to krabi town after getting ready at night...it was quite a long trip to night market took us almost 30 minutes to reach thx to 2 thai girls whom lead the way....night market wasnt much ....probably those who can eat anything would love it...we left early from there ...not really knowing the way we took a risk..somehow managed but took a wrong as we were abt to reach ...manage to ask around n reached safely back home...trip was pretty tiring but we enjoyed the ride....

Day 4

Got ready early for the Phi phi island tour....the speed boat tour was good ...went for few island hopping and finally back home...the islands were not kept welll..so nothing much to say ...came back n rested for the day ....

Learn Modernized English :)

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; Usually, I take out my cell phone and check if I have any messages or missed calls.”

“And when you find that you do, how do you feel?

“I feel absolutely thrilled. Did you get many presents on your birthday?”

“I certainly did. Some of the gifts were extremely difficult to open. It drove me crazy.”

“The anger that you sometimes feel trying to unwrap something is called ‘wrap rage'.”

“I see. That's a nice term. The video game that my parents had bought was so tightly packed that it took me nearly twenty minutes to open it. That was the first time I ever experienced wrap rage.”

“I understand wrap rage is quite common in the U.S. and Britain during Christmas.”

“That's not at all surprising. I'm sure...”

“Whenever I buy something for my grandparents, I always repack it so that it's easy to open. But I did call, remember?”

“That's right! But it's cheaper to send a message.”

“True, but it takes me too long. I'm textually challenged.”

“Textually challenged? Does it mean you find it difficult to text?”

“Yes, it does. Someone who is textually challenged finds it difficult to send messages on his cell. He makes the receiver wait because it takes him a long time to type out a simple message.”

“I guess that's the reason my grandfather never responds to my messages. Best part is, I or ratherwe, did not choose to come here. We are all scholars sent here by eitherJPA or MARA.

If you were to Google "Moscow Medical Academy" it is ranked by UNESCO asthe second best medical university in the world.. Do not be fooled bythis because I was one who was fooled as well. Only after I landed inMoscow did I know that the "2nd best in the world" is specificallygranted to the Russian medium of this medical school.

We, Malaysians, are doing the English medium and I must say it's anutter shame that the government actually spent millions of tax payersmoney to send us all here to study medicine. The teaching facilities ormethods of the English medium here is way below par, way below that of athird world country even. Some classrooms here even resemble the ones wehave in our 'kampungs' in rural areas such as those in Sabah and Sarawak(thank you so much for sending us here all the way to Moscow toexperience this!).

For your information, this so-called Moscow Medical Academy does noteven have a campus to begin with. Classes are scattered all over Moscow. We students are forced to travel everyday via Metro, or by foot, or busto attend classes. Also, there are times when we would have travelled sofar to attend classes, and upon arrival at school, only to be told that classes are cancelled.

The Malaysian government could have spent the money more wisely toeducate us in Malaysia, Singapore or India. We get paid almost USD700per month, which I believe is a huge amount of taxpayers money. However, I doubt we will bring back much knowledge to be able to helpthe patients back home. While there are some of us who save and spend the money wisely due tothe high cost of living here, there are a huge majority of private andsponsored students who come here just to enjoy. Frequent parties, weekend getaways, world tours, and shopping sprees are common amongstudents here.

The lifestyle of many Malaysians change tremendously once they camehere. They behave even worse than the "Mat Sallehs" here.. Malaysiangirls here, for instance, would walk around ever so skimpily leavingnothing to the imagination (even during winter!).

Whatever happened to the Malaysian culture? Many here have even losttheir virginity at the tender age of 18 or 19 simply because a guy orgirl can walk in ever so easily into the rooms of the opposite sex. Many Malaysian medical students behave as though they have no selfdignity. However, they potray the best behaviour once they land inMalaysia as though they are the best Malaysian angels. Sadly, we allknow their true colours when they are here in Moscow. Hypocrites!

These Malaysians are surely to be huge dissapointments to their familiesas well to the nation. Exams and studies are the least priority for themany who are here. I wonder why did some people choose to study medicinein the very first place.

Let me also give u an insight of the education system here. You want toknow why the majority of Russian grads are so incompetent and useless?Well, first and foremost, we can get away with cheating ever so easilyduring exams. You may ask how.

Many students here aren't bothered about being honest for themselves. Many just merely do the bare minimum of studying and copied theirfriend's answers or directly from the books during the exams. Thesestudents fail to realise that they are only cheating themselves. The onewho helps with the cheating is also going to lose out in the end oncehe/she is out of medic school and into the work world.

Another method which works really well for the girls is simply to shedsome crocodile tears during exams and instantly the lecturer would granther a mere pass. How is this fair to students like me who slog day andnight, mugging and studying extremely hard with the simple intention ofgraduating as a competent doctor?

After all, these cheaters would be graduating with a MD certificate andwould turn out to be the bad apples in the healthcare system inMalaysia. Thus, leading senior doctors to generalise and say that allRussian grads are incompetent. Does anyone have any idea how frustratingthis is?

Many students who sit for exams earlier would simply snap a photo of thedifferent sets of questions and answers to be distributed to the rest ofthe students who have yet to sit for their exams.

How is this helping anyone? Can you even call this an exam? Does it fitthe definition of an exam? So, can you imagine what kind of doctorswe're producing here? A bunch of cheaters, liars, and irresponsiblefuture doctors!

No wonder countries like the UK refuse to accept Russian medical gradsfor their postgraduate courses. Simply because we have never even satfor a proper exam per say throughout our six years of study here.

Look at the UK universities/colleges. Do they even allow any student oftheirs to bring in PDAs, camera handphones, bags, and books into theexam venue? Do they allow any exam candidate to communicate with anothercandidate once the question paper has been distributed? Do students knowthe exact questions and answers prior to the exams? Hell no! These onlyhappen in Russia.

So, wake up people. To those of you who are planning to send your offsprings to Russia for amedical degree, please, I'm begging you, think again. You're not onlygoing to lose your money, but also perhaps the good name and dignity ofyour family.

This is merely an opinion of mine and not directed to insult, degrade orhumiliate anyone. I believe there is nothing wrong in sharing myopinion.

My experience With NAZA PJ

This happen between december 08 - june 09 early of this month , 9 (as usual since i am always busy ..updating late...)

December 08

We booked NAZA Bestari (Peugeot 206) on 31st December 2008....from Naza PJ ( next to the federal highway ) then started the headache....

January - 09

My gf was working in Kedah so she have to go back in order to sent me all her letters and payslip for the car ...so she went back and then sent me all that was requested by the sales agent ..Ahrar ....so after submitted it took almost a month , everytime call the SA he will inform still processing ....

February 09

Then he informed me that one of the letters need to be refill again ..so i went and collected and then sent to Kedah and got it back after a week and then sent to him again ..Till februaury no updates ...so then one day we got to know from the office people that our SA met with accident so he was MC for a month....during that time the management ...requested another SA to help out Ahrar's cases ...so there came ...NAZRI into the picture ...Nazri was even worse ..i had to call him almost everyday ...until at last he told me the forms need to be refill again ....(the form was already submitted twice )

March 09

So it went on without any update from their side ... we were stuck as we cannot contact them ..no answer from phone ...

April 09

Sumwhere in the middle Ahrar came back ...and informed the forms needs to be sign by the Headmaster ( all the documents like bank statement , payslip and ic ..- since my gf works as Teacher ) ...ok we were very upset ... but still we did and sent to him ...

May 09

Towards the end Ahrar called me to inform that car is arrived and now its at local service factory for QC check . He requested me to go and get number for the car ...thus we went to Padang Jawa and paid RM 210 to buy the number (even for this when i asked him to take he asked for RM 400 ) ... then when we called him he promised the car can be collected 2/3 March 09 ...after a few days called him he didnt answer his phone ...i called the office and one guy called "eddy" answered and told it will take 10 days ...i got so pissed off and shouted at him...then i asked him for his managers number but he said dont have and he is away ...so the next day i called he loan department and enquire about cancelling the loan. She said there is no problem but we need to write a letter. so we draft a letter and immediately rush to their loan department and submitted and cancelled the loan. While we were drafting the letter we received the call from ahrar's manager ( out of nowhere came the manager ) . he started apologizing and asking us to reconsider. He said he will he will give us t-shirt and full oil (the worst offer that i ever seen). We said NO and told we will be coming after cancelling the loan. He even told us that the car will be ready at 2pm (wow , how come suddenly can do so fast). We reached their office in the evening and collected the documents. As we were leaving the SA asked us to view the car before leaving. There was the car with the number plate on it. That time there was another car next to it, the SA told me that the owner's father came drove the car until the main gate and made a U-Turn and gave back the car.( Thank god i cancelled earlier )

Credit Card SCAM

Beware people ....

I got a call from so call MBF officer today ( 03 2172 1000 ) to update my credit card details....
he claimed that the number displayed on my phone is the HQ number of MBF.....i knew it that time this guy was trying to con me ...i was so tired and sleepy so i just ignored and ask him to call back later ....and he didnt .....so people anyone call asking to update your credit card details ....make sure you dont ....wish i can catch the culprits who is selling the information ( phone number , details of CC , name and etc ) and sue them ....damn you guys...

KUGAN'S GHOST

I like to thank Mr.Poobalan for his wonderful posting of the video clip taken in the mortuary . After watching that clip I had a restless night and could not sleep the whole night . Adding to that horror I had to company my wife in watching the Horror movie in Star Movies last night . Driving to my other clinic in butterworth this morning , the whole event kept running in my mind .

As a Surgical Medical officer , I have done many post mortems. I had assisted in doing post mortem in murder cases too. The post mortem always gives a clue on what caused the death and the estimated time of death based on the rigor mortis that has set in .

As a student in medical college I have always been fascinated in Forensic Medicine . Looking at Kugan's dead body and the wounds inflicted on him gives a very good clue on what the probable cause of death would be . The most clearest indication of the cause of death is the froth seen coming out of his mouth . Death due to asphyxia ( suffocation ) .The video clip must have been taken before the post mortem . I did not see any mid line insertion on the chest and abdomen . This is my assertion from what we call as external post-mortem . Based on my experience , I did my own external post-mortem from the video clips and the photos that I have received . I wish there was a closer picture of the wound . I managed to zoom in to enlarge the picture to get a better view. We usually start the external post-mortems from top to down but in this case I like to take it from the bottom . First of all , Lets look at the legs . You will notice that below both the knees , the colour was darker then the thigh . That is due to pooling of blood in the lower limbs . At the time of his death the blood did not have a chance to return back to the heart . When a person dies in a lying down position on his back , you will notice this pooling of blood on the dependent sides of the back . In this case it was noticed on his lower limbs . My assumption here is that he had died on a sitting position or was lying down with his feet hanging down . The blood did not have time to return back to the heart . Moving up to the back . There is a huge bruising at the hypochondriac areas of both sides of his abdomen( near the kidney ) . This bruising is caused by the rupture of the capillary veins and arteries , which is probably due to repeated punching or kicking on the area . The wounds on the back are not so fresh . In certain areas , there are granulation tissue showing healing . This are injuries inflicted probably 2 to 3 days prior to his death . The wounds is most probably caused by a blunt object tearing into the skin due to pressure . Probably he was made to lie down on some rough surface and dragged on it .. Moving to the chest . There are some amount of bruises on the chest indicating trauma to the chest . The chest wall appear sunken in . He probably has couple of rib fractures . Post mortem of the chest will confirm . Next interesting thing clearly noticed was the abrasion on the neck with a semi circle bruise . This is probably due to strangulation on the neck probably with a rope which cause the abrasion . The abrasion and the bruise is position exactly on the cricoids cartilage . Probably the force would have caused the cartilage to break . The face did not have any gross deformities . There was not Raccoons eyes ( Black Eye ). He was probably slapped but not punched on his face . The absence of the Raccoons eyes indicates that there was no serious injurious to the head .There was no bleeding from the ears which also rules out any head injuries. What interest me most is the blood oozing out of the mouth and the with froth . The blood is fresh appears as if it was cough out . The blood is most probably is from the tracheal injury . That would have caused choking . The choking had triggered bronchospasm causing his air passages to constrict and difficulty to breath . The froth is not blood stained . That shows there was no injury to lung tissue . Froth is usually seen in death due to asphyxia . Another thing , when there is a tracheal injury, when a person drinks a cold water , the water moves down into the trachea instead of the oesophagus causing vaso vagal inhibition and thus causing broncho spasm. Fluid accumulation in the lung also explains the white froth . Overall I can see the body is already in Rigor Mortis . The Rigor Mortis takes place after 6 hours and completes in 12 hours . So at the time the video was taken Kugan was already dead for more than 18 hours . No sign of any active resuscitation is noted . His body was most probably discovered after he had died .

The cause of death is due to asphyxia but most definitely not due to asthma.

Historically, law enforcement officials were rarely if ever held to account ... Today, despite increased legal safeguards, law enforcement officers who flout them can still enjoy effective impunity when they are alleged to have abused or even unlawfully killed victims .

Racist Law officers are always brutal and most brutal officers are always racist.

The opinion expressed above is not of an expert opinion of a Forensic Specialist . It was based on the observation and the knowledge of medicine . The opinion is not based on being prejudice towards the Police .

I hope someone from MI Club can provide me further details of the death and what was the post mortem report . Does anybody have the statistics of lock up death in Malaysia.

Kugan , was just a car thief . A waste in the society . Probably a drug addict and a disgrace to our community . Some might say that he deserved to die . If he was caught by the public and beaten to death, the public would have not made so much noise . Some said it was his karma . He had to die a violent death due to his violent life style . Whatever said or done , a human is a human . No human has the right to take another mans life . No matter how cruel a man is , or no matter how gruesome a mans crime is , we have the Law . That separates us from those who live in the jungle . The Law was created not only to protected the innocent but to deliver justice . No man has the right to take the Law himself . The Law punishes the criminal based on the crime committed . Even when a person is sentenced to death by hanging is based on the crime committed and the intention to committed the crime .

There have been deaths in the lock up before . This death got the public attention because we had the chance to see the dead body АажТ╢ for some , they were there and others thru internet . This has become possible because of the growing unity in the community . Kugan's death is an eye opener for everyone . The community should realise that this should not be happening in Malaysia . A prisoner has his rights and we have to know them . Why was Kugan questioned without the presence of a Lawyer . His should have had a Lawyer present to advise him . I hope anybody who is a lawyer will explain regarding the rights of an individual when he is arrested .

The community today is very upset with what they have seen recently with Kugan's death . Are we going to prevent such incident from occurring or prevent others from sharing the same fate as Kugan or are we going to join hands in preventing those unfortunate from becoming someone like Kugan . Who are we going to blame . Is the Government responsible for depriving our community the basic education ? Are the responsible for the increase in poverty among our community . Why our great leaders chosen by us , in the last 30 years have not done anything to elevate our misery and instead are busy elevating their assets. Are we to be blamed for electing the wrong leaders ? Do we blame Kugan's parents for their failure to nurture the son to be a good citizen ?

Kugan is not a hero . He is a thief . His death is of no loss to the society . He is no saint to be made a statue . However he is part of us . He represented our failure and represented our suffering . His death should bring about a greater unity among our community . For the sake of our future we should thrive forward to prevent another soul from taking an early departure . We have to educated the next generation in order to prevent another Kugan from appearing . Let Kugan's death be lesson to all of us and let Kugan be the Ghost of our past . Let us thrive to build unity and prosperity in our community for the sake of our future generation .

What happen to Kugan was a sad event . Whether it was his choice to chose the wrong path or was it the society that drove him to chose the wrong path only he could have answered but those who were responsible for his early departure although they were eager to solve the case had no right to torture another human being .

My sympathy is to the family who has to live with this traumatic experience for the rest of their life . All we can do is to pray to God to forgive Kugan for his crime for he has paid his due dearly by undergoing a tremendous torture and eventually with his life . As for our community the Ghost of Kugan will remain to haunt us to constantly remind us of our suffering while our elected leaders sleep peacefully dreaming about their bank balance getting bigger .

Justice Not Served

Dr.Sreedharan
Can A Family Man With Salary RM3,000 Survive In Malaysia...?

I received this in my email ......quite true and its a fact .....

Let's do some simple calculations here. In Malaysia, the average family income is RM3,000 /month (where father works, mother doesn't).

I understand there are many families whose monthly income does not reach RM3,000, but, to make things simple, let's take RM3,000 as the figure. Ok lah, right?

Okay, let's start rolling with a family which has Papa, Mama, 1 daughter and 1 son. Ngam-ngam

.... Calculation starts...
Electricity and water bill: RM100 (No air-con, No home theatre, No water heater ... ok?)

Phone bill ( Telekom): RM50

Meals for a happy family: RM775 (3 meals on RM25/day, RM25 for 4 persons...?)

Papa makan / teh-tarik during working hrs: RM155 (RM5/day, RM5 ... can eat what?)

Car repayment: RM400 (A proton saga aeroback, 7 yrs repayment)

Petrol (living in city, traffic-jam) : RM300 (go to work, bring son to school, only can afford one car running)

Insurance: RM650 (kids, wife and myself)

House repayment: RM750 (low cost housing repayment for 30 yrs, retired still have to work to pay!)

Tuition: RM80 (got that cheap meh? i don't think so)

Older children pocket money @ school: RM20 (RM1/day, eat bread?)

School fees: RM30 (enough ah?)

School books and etc: RM100 (always got extra to pay in school)

Younger children milk powder: RM50 (cannot have the DHA, BHA, PHA one, expensive)

Miscellaneous: RM100 (shampoo, rice, sauce, toilet paper)

Oh wait!!! I have to stop here, so...
No Astro, no movie @ cinema, no DVD, no CD, no online, cannot KFC, cannot McDonald, cannot go Park walk during weekend (petrol expensive), no chit chat on phone with grandparents, and etc...

Let's use a calculator to total up...
WALAO EH! Shit! RM3,560 already... EPF belum potong, income tax lagi........ oledi RM3,560 .......

How to survive lah tuan-tuan dan puan-puan sekalian ??? Our Deputy Prime Minister asked us to change lifestyle? How to change? Don't eat? Don't work? Don't send children to school and study? Besides that, I believe in Malaysia population, there are millions of rakyat Malaysia which still don't earn RM3,000/month! !! What is this? Inilah Malaysia Boleh... A banana leaf serves anyone without looking @ color or race or whatever...it serves anyone whom needs it ...so do the GOVERNMENT and LEADERS should do ...b like d Banana Leaf ...

And of course all of us should b like a b'leaf also .... not only them ...hmmm hope to c CHANGES.....

THIS IS A GOOD ONE......

Thursday April 17, 2008

Help Malaysians before helping Sufiah

MUCH has been said about the mission to save Sufiah Yusof but many Malaysians think that she is not suffering at all and thus Malaysian leaders should put their priorities right, especially for any mission which involves our money.

I am not an ex-prodigy forced into prostitution but if the Malaysian Government is planning to embark on a mission to save a British subject who doesn't even care if Malaysia sinks or floats, please consider helping me first.

I am a Malaysian who genuinely loves my country very much and has been diligently instilling patriotism in my children. For us, Negaraku is not merely a national anthem but is our pride.

I am a true and thoroughbred citizen of Malaysia who is much more desperate than Sufiah. Please save my children's faith. Please save them from self-pity and trauma before our leaders decide to use Malaysian funds and resources to save one British citizen who is more than happy with the kind of life she has gladly chosen.

I am a 41-year-old mother of three young children aged between seven and 10 who is struggling to live amid a mountain of debt due to several setbacks and business failures.

My husband resigned from a bank out of frustration and joined a friend's business which has not worked out as planned. We later set up a business partnership and my husband attempted to run the business which we both hoped could provide a foundation to our children's future.

However, it failed miserably. For two years, we practically survived on my income as I still have a full time job. But that doesn't help much.

Existing financial obligations soon got out of hand. Things got worse with new debts that accumulated and snowballed at super speed. In a blink, we found ourselves drowning in real serious debt.

I am still helplessly struggling to keep my sanity while putting up with the intimidating debt collection agents whose antics are at times as annoying and scary as that of the Ah Long.

As I am soft and timid, it affects my health and work but there is nothing much I can do.

We have not been attending relatives’ kenduri for quite some time and neither did we celebrate the eve or first day of Hari Raya at our respective hometowns. Only our mothers and siblings know the real reason and have done their best to help.

I seriously wish to pay every single sen I owe but I don't have the money. Nothing I say would satisfy the bank officers/debt collectors/ agents who are driving me crazy with their intimidation and ridicule. Even the AKPK have been unable to help at this juncture. I am really stuck.

At least Sufiah is living free from stress and harassment. But there are needy and desperate citizens in this country who never chose to fall in a rut, and they desperately need rescue. Please help us get back on our feet. Let charity begin at home.

DESPERATE MOM,
IPOH.

Well said ... its true ...many people here are suffering ...but instead they are so busy want to help outsider who thinks and want to live her own life...wats wrong wif this people ??? just like her many poor and medium sized people are affected due to losing job , business failure etc etc ...they also deserve a life to live ...what has the government done for this kind of people .... ?? Malaysia suppose to b an example of a multi cultural multi race bla bla country ...BUT do we really see that ???? we see in school - different , working place - is different - everywher is different ... hmmm wonder whats going to happen ...

Being born as a Malaysian ...i m proud to b one ...just waiting to see true souls to come and make changes....

Protest@Penang

on friday UMNO PUTERA & PUTERI's as well as uncles and aunties staged a protest at KOMTAR PENANG.... according to malaysiakini ....abt 1000 of them ...

extract frm thestar

Police disperse protestors in Penang (update 2)

By TUNKU SHAHARIAH and BERNARD SEE

PENANG: A big group of protesters, mostly Umno members and supporters, took to the streets around Komtar after Friday prayers to protest against Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's remarks on the New Economic Policy.

Chanting “Hidup Melayu” (long-live the Malays) and “Allahuakbar” (God is great), the protesters marched towards Komtar in Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong at about 2.30pm.

They held banners with messages such as “Kami Penduduk Pulau Pinang Menyokong Penuh Kepimpinan Pak Lah” (We fully support Pak Lah’s leadership), “Anwar Ibrahim Pengkhianat Bangsa” (Anwar Ibrahim, traitor of the Malay race), “Tak akan Melayu Hilang di Pulau Pinang” (Malays will not be sidelined in Penang) and "Kepimpinan DAP dibantah oleh Melayu Pulau Pinang” (Penang Malays Protest Against the DAP-led goverment).

Among those who participated in the hour-long street protest were Penang Umno secretary and state opposition leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim, former deputy Chief Minister Datuk Abdul Rashid Abdullah, Kepala Batas Umno Youth deputy chief Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Bukit Mertajam Umno division chief Senator Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir, Tanjung Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ibnihajar and former Penanti assemblyman Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid.

The protest was held in response to Lim's statement that DAP and PKR would run the government "free from the New Economic Policy (NEP) that breeds cronyism, corruption and systemic inefficiency".

Speaking to reporters, Musa said the state Umno would hand over a four-point memorandum to Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas next week in protest of Guan Eng’s statement.

“We do not want to hand the memorandum to the Chief Minister as we believe he will not protect the rights of the Malays. We want Tun (Abdul Rahman) to advise him after we hand over the memorandum,” he said.

Ahmad Ibnihajar denied that the protest was led by the state Umno but claimed that the Malays had gathered in response to an SMS circulated on Friday.

He said the DAP-led government had not respected the rights of the Malays and that the Penang Malays “wanted them out”.

At 3.30pm, George Town OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid advised the protesters to disperse, using a loud hailer but they continued to hang around the area.

Thirty minutes later, the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) on stand-by nearby was called in to disperse the protesters. Only then did they leave.

Roadblocks were put up along Jalan Tunku Kudin near the Penang Bridge to prevent protesters from neighbouring states from joining the protest.

Police had received a tip-off about the protest on Thursday afternoon. Acting state police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Salleh Mat Rasid said no untoward incidents were reported but two men were brought back for questioning.

"They were subsequently released after their statements were taken down. It was a relatively peaceful protest.

"Rumours of water cannons being used on protesters and bricks thrown into the shops in Komtar are all unfounded," he said.

Businesses such as jewellery shops and travel agencies located on the ground floor of the two nearby shopping complexes closed for business, but re-opened at 5pm.

funny thing is ..when happened during Hindraf 25th November and Rose campaign there were number was caught by police , one person was surrounded by 6 - 7 police personel and handled like an animal ...( using LEGS to hold their face on the road ) but here today did that happen ??? this is portrayed as "peace protest" by when others do "peace protest" that is known "RIOT" ...hmmmm i wonder what they trying to do ....

PAS' Nizar is new Perak MB

Mar 12, 08 5:49pm

Pasir Panjang state assemblyperson and Perak PAS secretary Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin was today confirmed as the new menteri besar of the state.

The decision was reached after the Regent of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah met with the three nominees for the post this evening.

The other two candidates for the post were state DAP chairperson and Sitiawan state assemblyperson Ngeh Khoo Ham and PKR’s Behrang assemblyperson Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi.

Also decided today is that Ngeh would be made the deputy mentri besar (1) while an Indian candidate would be made deputy mentri besar (2).

The new mentri besar will be sworn in at 4pm tomorrow.

Under the state constitution, the menteri besar has to be a Malay Muslim, but there is a provision that allows the sultan to waive the requirement.

Of a total of 59 state seats, DAP controls 18 seats while PKR has seven and PAS six, making a total of 31. We want to be your (Penangites) friend and it is our strong commitment that all Penangites will have a stake in the state government," he added.

Today’s announcement came as a surprise as party insiders have earlier indicated that the new state government has no intention to retain the deputy chief minister position.

Example to other states

This is also the first time an Indian Malaysian has been awarded such a high post in Malaysia.

Ramasamy, 58, a political scientist and former academician, said his appointment shows that the state government was sincere in wanting to represent all communities after being given a mandate in the polls.

"I hope other state governments will also follow suit to make all communities represented in their leadership," he urged.

Ramasamy, who contested in an election for the first time, has stunned political pundits when he also defeated former Penang CM Dr Koh Tsu Koon in the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat.

Mohd Fairus, a newcomer in politics as well, said he will look into issues which are of concern to the Malay community in the state, such as education.

At 32, he is among the youngest politician to be picked for the post.

"That will be one (aspect) but it is not all because we are here to represent all communities," said Mohd Fairus, who holds a master’s degree in business administration from United Kingdom.

PAS' lone rep

In a related development, Lim also revealed that the state’s executive council will consist of seven members from DAP and three from PKR, in addition to the chief minister who is from DAP.

The full line-up however is yet to be announced. This probably will be made known during the swearing-in ceremony which is expected to take place tomorrow morning.

Lim said both the speaker and deputy speaker of the state assembly will be from PKR and the party will decide on the candidates.

Asked on whether any exco post will be allocated to the lone PAS state assemblyperson Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman, the Penang CM stressed that it is a DAP-PKR coalition government.

"Arrangements will be made but we will decide later," he said without elaborating.

Lim was flanked by his two new deputies at the press conference. Also present were PKR Penang chief and Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Mohamed Hashim and other DAP leaders.

The DAP-led opposition made a near clean sweep in Penang in the March 8 general election and totally wiped out the BN-Gerakan and MCA’s hold in the island state.

BN now only controls 11 out of the 40 state seats in Penang, which are all held by Umno. The remaining seats are with DAP (19), PKR (nine) and PAS (one).

Now this what i call a multi racial country several university lecturers for bringing in their personal views during lectures on inter-racial relationship.

China Press quoted MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai as saying nobody should be allowed to distort the course outline by exploiting racial sentiments among the students.

He said MCA Youth was collecting information on the issue to bring it up to the Higher Education Ministry.

He added that action would be taken against such lecturers for adding in their “interpretation”.

An undergraduate had earlier told Liow that a lecturer has expressed his “extreme views” on racial issues during a lecture.

Among the statements the lecturer made were “The land of Malaysia belongs to the Malays”, “Chinese have trespassed on the Malays’ land” and “Chinese with poor Bahasa Melayu are deemed unpatriotic”.

Liow said MCA had provided input to the relevant ministry before the course’s outline was drawn to ensure that the course conformed with the country’s multi-racial society that recognised the contribution of each race.

He added that the course was meant to promote racial harmony and social stability.

“It is unacceptable for lecturers to hold extreme views. An angry reader wrote in that the Indian government should surely know that while assistance to Guyana was welcome it should be on non-discriminatory grounds, regardless of ethnic origin. The spark ignited by so innocuous an offer of help illustrates how combustible is the race vs nation debate. Most recently, India was delivered a stinging slap in the face when it spoke up on behalf of the 1.8 million-strong ethnic Indian population in Malaysia and was told to Lay Off.

India has the third largest Diaspora in the world after Britain and China. These two countries have never fought shy of taking up cudgels on behalf of their scattered brood. When Indonesia under Suharto banned public displays of Chinese culture and asked its Chinese population to change their names to Indonesian ones to get citizenship, China broke off diplomatic ties for years. "The English too take care of their own across the globe, including in Australia," says Jamia Millia vice-chancellor Mushirul Hasan. "India has taken the correct stand on Malaysia. Persons of Indian origin are culturally bound to us. We cannot wash our hands of them simply because they do not have Indian passports."

In the past, too, India has spoken up--when Mahendra Chowdhary was deposed as prime minister in Fiji in 2000, New Delhi expressed its concern. But, equally, it has always worried about crossing the thin red line from concern to interference. A dithering that angers the Indian Malay. "If India does not protest against the unfair treatment of Malaysians of Indian origin do you expect Mongolia and China to do so on our behalf?" asks an indignant P Uthayakumar, legal adviser to the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) which is leading the movement. "For God's sake, we in Malaysia have the closest links with India. If a wife is unfairly treated by her husband, she can only go to her parents. India must intervene because human rights have no boundaries."

G Parthasarthy, former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan points out that whenever there has been a massive violation of human rights of Indians, such as in Fiji, the Indian government has taken cognisance. "This has been our policy since the time of Jawaharlal Nehru," he says. "The problem is that if we start making statements other countries can do so too when there are communal riots here. Therefore, we have to be objective."

India's early Diaspora has its roots in colonial oppression. In the 19th century, boatloads of indentured labour were forcibly transported to work on the rubber plantations of Malay. Today, the descendants of the boat people may not be watering rubber fields but their lot is still very much that of the marginalised migrant, they claim. Since its independence in 1957, Malaysia has powered ahead and is often held up as the exemplar of Muslim development. But for the Indians who make up a little less than 10 per cent of the population, prosperity has stayed stubbornly out of bounds.

Hindraf says that the job reservations for ethnic Malays effectively cut the Indians out leaving them to be "labourers, industrial workers, office boys, sweepers, beggars and squatters". The only index on which ethnic Indians lead is suicides. The crime rate of the group is also shockingly high. The Tamil schools are largely dysfunctional. "The conduct of the Malaysian authorities has been particularly offensive," says India's former external affairs minister, Yeshwant Sinha. "Even the country's official history starts with the 14th century after the last Hindu king converted to Islam. They want to obliterate their past."

On November 25, nearly 8,000 Malaysians of Indian origin gathered in the shadow of Kuala Lumpur's iconic Petronas Towers to demand equality. Instead they were brutally beaten with batons, bombed with tear gas and flung into jail. An anguished Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi wrote to Manmohan Singh urging him to intervene diplomatically. He did. Malaysia reacted swiftly. "This is Malaysia. We'll deal with our problems and issues according to our laws. Other countries should be mindful of our rights," said Syed Hamid Albar, Malaysia's foreign minister.

"I can turn around and ask, what business was it of Malaysia's to protest the Babri Masjid demolition or even the Danish cartoons of Prophet Mohammed," rebuts Dr Subramanian Swamy, known for his efforts to improve Indo-Chinese relations in the Eighties. "Malaysia should be the last country to tell India to lay off."

Those who advocate caution say that India cannot take on the burdens of its Diaspora, and that fighting for Malaysians of Indian origin will only open a Pandora's box. After all, there are millions of Indians in Fiji, South Africa, and the Caribbean Islands. Others say that since India is quick to tom-tom the achievements of its Diaspora--V S Naipaul, Bobby Jindal, Sunita Williams --it should also look out for them. Moreover, since they are victims of colonialism, the government owes them the support of the mother country, says Ormila Bhoopaul, an activist lawyer of Indian origin from Guyana, who now lives in Canada. "What first needs to be acknowledged is that these PIOs were forced to leave, they were tricked into going by the British," she says. "Why didn't they all return? The reasons are many and when examined, they are not to be blamed for not returning. And the British must take some responsibility too."

Hindraf still hopes that old blood ties will move the mother country. "Every few weeks a temple is being razed. Last year, 79 temples were demolished or faced legal action," says Uthayakumar. "We are grateful that India has expressed concern. We hope now for more concrete action. India is a growing power. Malaysia is bound to listen."

hehehe check out ..i didnt know this is like going international level ...hmmm i wonder where is this I won't go before my number is up," Kula had once said in an interview, after having survived several attempts on his life by desperate gangsters.

The first attempt was on Nov 22, 1975.

He had stopped at a traffic light junction while driving alone when 11 shots were fired at him. One of the bullets shattered his right rib, piercing his liver, and grazed his lungs.

On April 7, 1976, Kula was shot in the stomach during a robbery at a jewellery shop in Paramount Gardens, Petaling Jaya.

He also survived when a 44-pound jar of formic acid was splashed on his legs and chest; when a tree fell, killing a helper instead; when an axe-wielding man rushed at him; and when a patrol car in Sarawak was ambushed - another officer with the same name as him was killed.

Kula, who later held the post of Johor CID chief, was best known for capturing the infamous "Botak Chin", who carried out many robberies in the Klang Valley in the 1970s.

Johor police chief Datuk Hussin Ismail said Kulasingam, which means "lion of the community" in Tamil, would always be remembered for the rare qualities that made him the quintessential policeman.

"He was a man who did not flinch in the face of danger. He was courageous, obstinate and steadfastly devoted to his duties and he held fast to the belief that these qualities made the difference in the fight against crime," Hussin said.

Before joining the police force in 1951, Kula had worked as a teacher for six months. He was only 19 when he joined as a probationary inspector in July, 1951.

His courageous crime-fighting style soon caught the attention of his immediate supervisors, who recommended him for promotion to assistant superintendent of police in August 1957.

Kula served the force with dedication for 35 years. He retired in 1985.

He was also awarded the Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN) for distinguished service in the police force and had been hailed as epitomising the qualities that policemen should be made of - courage, tenacity and selfless devotion.

* funny thing he is known as SUPERCOP but never received any "datuk" "dato" "tan Sri" hmmmm sumthing to ponder..... :)

...acted in Hollywood and received "datuk"
...sailed around the world and swimmed across the sea and received "datuk"
...i have no problem with whoever getting ...but just curious....thats all... :)

CTOS vs KAYVEAS

hmmm... i think this is cool ... its good that Datuk Kayveas brought up this issue....

and for those who support ...dun forget to go here .. www.insolvency.gov.my
NST 3rdJuly2007 :

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk M. Kayveas has challenged credit information provider Credit Tip-Off Service (CTOS) to prove that it had obtained the financial records of individuals in its database legally.

The deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department also wants CTOS to update its database.

He said if the company failed to do so, it should cease its operations.

"Does CTOS have any payment receipts or evidence that the data were voluntarily given by the public? Is the company buying the information via legal means? I want proof of that," he said at a press conference at the parliament lobby yesterday.

Kayveas warned the company that if it continued to operate with outdated data, it could face legal consequences.

He said once the company had updated its records, it could apply for a license and register under the Insolvency Department.

"Personally, I feel the company should cease operations.

"With so many complaints levelled against them, they should shut down. The public and Fomca (Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations) wanted it to be shut down."

To date, the government website, www.insolvency.gov.my, had received 850 complaints against CTOS. The website receives an average of three complaints every five minutes.

Kayveas said CTOS did not obtain permission from individuals to have their financial status stored in its database and later sold to third parties.

He said while there were provisions in the law for banks to trade information on individuals between themselves, private companies were not allowed to do so.

As a result, he claimed that CTOS had violated several laws in the country, including the Computer Crime Act 1997, the Internal Security Act 1960, the Official Secrets Act 1972 and the Human Rights Commission Act 1999.

Citing an example, Kayveas said under the Computer Crime Act, CTOS could be charged under Section 73 for providing and selling inaccurate information to third parties.

"We will study which laws could be used to act against CTOS."

Kayveas said when the issue was first highlighted, it was hoped that CTOS could update the information in its database and clear peoples’ names.

"Everyone needs a second chance, even criminals. Here, we have simple people with tiny offences being blacklisted due to CTOS historical data.

Even the government doesn’t blacklist people, so how could a private company do so?"

He said intense marketing by CTOS had caused confusion not only among the public, but also among government agencies that had used its services as they were under the impression that CTOS was government-owned.

Kayveas admitted that even the People’s Progressive Party, of which he is president, his service centre in Taiping and a law firm known as Messrs Blanche, Kayveas & Co had been subscribing to the services provided by CTOS since 1999.

However, he is unsure if his service centre and the PPP still used CTOS services.

He also claimed that CTOS made about RM80 million a year, based on 2,100 bank branches in the country which used its services.

He said CTOS had not submitted its accounts to the Companies Commission of Malaysia for the last 10 years.

CTOS has more than 13 million entries in its database compared with Bank Negara’s Central Credit Reference Information System, which has two million entries.

Asked why no action had been taken against CTOS before this, Kayveas said previously, no one had treated the matter seriously.

"But now, we are serious," he said, adding that he would visit the company on July 10 to discuss the complaints that had been received against it.

Lawyer Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim said the government should come up with a law dealing with data protection.

He said there were companies in Britain which offered similar services but they were regulated.

first time .....

haha after reading others blog finally i decided to my own one...hmmm maybe one day it will be very useful ..never know...
